At String Theory Golf, we set out to turn the elusive swinging a weight-on-a-string- feel into a training aid that would help all golfers bring that perfect motion into their golf-swing motion. Whirling a weight in the air via a non-resilient medium like a string or something similar is the perfect litmus test of a true swinging motion.

The Secret of Non-Resilience and Centrifugal Force

Many golf training aids are clubs or putters with flexible shafts. These shafts, while very flexible, still return to their original state even without any other impetus. This is called “resilience” or “return.” These aids supposedly encourage a smoother, more rhythmic swing. However, they doesn’t mandate that you make a blemish-free swing that utilizes centrifugal force, exclusively. They indeed allow for an alternative force to be applied –a “levering force” –the opposite of “centrifugal force.” A lever works by applying force on a medium in one direction and creating a force at the other end of the medium going in the opposing direction. You cannot lever a weight with a non-resilient medium—try it!. Contrast a lever with a swing, which works by applying force at one end of a medium and creating force at the other end of the medium going in the same direction—we know this force as “centrifugal force”.

With a regular flexible training shaft the user does not have the absolute imperative to use a real swinging motion. The user is susceptible to levering the club—motion antithetical to actual centrifugal force, leaving their faults in place and perhaps only covering them up at best. Only The String Theory Putter, with its patented design, accomplishes the goal of letting a golfer strike actual putts with a motion premised entirely on centrifugal force—the key to a true swing. And now, you can make that essential force yours!
